News: Jeffco First Steps Becomes an Integral Part of DDRC
Jeffco First Steps merged with DDRC as of July 1 of this year. Moving can be a challenge. The move to DDRC,
however, happened in phases. Starting in July, Beth Cole,
the Early Childhood Connections Coordinator (formerly the
Executive Director of Jeffco First Steps) moved to DDRC and began working out of an office in the DDRC Building. The service coordinators, however, waited until their new space was built for them to move into before they could move over. This happened at the end of September. Everyone is now at DDRC and getting integrated into the new setting. It has been nice to be closer to the DDRC Early Intervention Team. It helps foster closer collaboration between the service coordination and EI Team members. There is also somewhat less paperwork since there is no need to make extra copies of documents to go into the DDRC files anymore. Overall, the move has gone very smoothly, and everything is now up and running. Fortunately for families, there has been little, or no disruption in services, even though there were days that staff may have been difficult to contact. The staff would like to thank DDRC for helping to make the move as smooth as possible, and all of our families for giving them latitude with returning phone calls and emails during the move.
