News: Anna Davis – Hero Award Winner
Anna Davis was nominated for this year’s Hero Award among 14 other nominees. She was selected because of her ability to beat the odds and continue to thrive through deteriorating health conditions, and all the while sharing her warm smile. Anna’s positive outlook on life brings a smile to so many people’s faces simply by her presence. She is seen by those who know her as an “Earth Angel,” someone who blesses and enriches the lives of those around her.
As is the case with most successful people, Anna’s mother Kathryn has done an exceptional job in loving and raising Anna as is evident in all her actions. Anna cares about others and shows her empathy to her peers when things go wrong. She loves to help others, is gracious and kind and radiates an incredible spirit. Meeting Anna lifts your spirits every time. Anna embodies everything great about a society which is so desperate for heroes, and that is why she is the recipient of this year’s prestigious Hero Award. Anna had many people who offered her name in nomination. The nominators were Shannon Blanchard, Angel Garza, Jennifer Beaver, La Ron Younger and Kim Bartlett. Anna volunteers with Meals on Wheels helping to deliver food to the elderly, she volunteers with the Cat Care Society, and helps with gardening and a food bank. She is a well rounded person who loves to bowl with her friends and do fun things with her mom in the community. DDRC is proud to have Anna as its 2007 Hero Award Winner.
