News:Special Recognition Award - Jeni Jankowski & Let’s Frame It

Image of Jeni Jankowski

This Special Recognition Award is given to a person or organization that has shown exceptional generosity and dedication toward people with developmental disabilities. It is not given every year, but is reserved for a special person or organization. Let’s Frame It, and in particular, Jeni Jankowski is one of those special people.

In 2003, DDRC sent letters to Arvada area businesses requesting support for a new run/walk event to be held in Arvada. One of these letters landed in the hands of Jeni Jankowski, owner of Let’s Frame It on 58th Avenue and Ward Road in Arvada. Jeni promptly called Rick Granquist our run organizer and said “Sure, I would love to help. What can we do?”

That simple phone call started a much appreciated relationship that has grown over time. For the past 5 years, Jeni and her staff have crafted (free of charge) over 50 beautiful awards given to Harvest Festival Run/Walk winners in each age group. Rick Granquist personally handed out over 200 of these during his five years of being involved with the event, and has seen the look of surprise and appreciation on the runners’ faces as they receive the attractive award. Each award would normally cost a minimum of $50. Even though the awards are donated to DDRC, they are made professionally to the very last detail.

There are over 100 races each year in the Denver area, and in our opinion, these awards are the most original and attractive offered at any race. In addition to the many hours it takes to assemble the awards, Let’s Frame It has donated thousands of dollars in materials to help make the DDRC Harvest Festival Run/ Walk a success each and every year.

DDRC cherishes the generosity of Jeni Jankowski and Let’s Frame It of Arvada and recognizes her with this award of Special Recognition for being a true friend to people with developmental disabilities.
