News:Friend Award
The DDRC Friend Award is presented to a person(s) or an organization that has over time dedicated their time, talents and resources to helping people with developmental disabilities. This year, the award goes to a group of dedicated individuals who have served on two fundraising committees for DDRC Adult Vocational Services with the majority serving for over 18 years. These Friend Award winners are
Louis Bruno, Juergen Denk, Byron Finnefrock, Nancy Geiger, Jim Geiger, Shirley Gilmore, Dick Markley, Ann Moulton, Phyllis Parker, and Joe Phillips.
The success of any fundraiser is directly related to the energy, determination and commitment of the individuals involved. DDRC Adult Vocational Services started the first Football Sweepstakes fundraiser over 18 years ago. Ann Moulton, Shirley Gilmore and Dick Markley have performed the key
responsibilities that have made this fundraiser successful. They have raised over $72,000 over the past 18 years.
Another special group of volunteers started the successful DDRC Adult Vocational Services Charity Golf
Tournament 1 years ago with the suggestion of one of the volunteers, Louis Bruno. Other dedicated volunteers on this committee are Juergen Denk, Bryon Finnefrock, Nancy Geiger, Jim Geiger, Phyllis Parker, and Joe Phillips. The tournament started by raising $1,800 and they are now earning over $3 ,000 each year.
The funds from these important fundraisers go to support the Discover Computer Lab, consumer safety bingo, consumer holiday socials, consumer community activities, program supplies and staff training. To provide quality services fundraisers are necessary, since normal funding channels are not sufficient to meet the needs of people with developmental disabilities and provide the resources necessary to have a well trained work force. We thank each and every member of our volunteer committees for their tireless efforts in achieving and exceeding the goals set to help people with developmental disabilities.
